How to contribute

WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE?

Anyone who is passionate about education, schooling and creativity is welcome to contribute, reflect and voice their opinions in this project. You must have the will and courage to convey your story and your ideas about what the future of education should look like. Younger participants under 12 may need technical assistance from a grown up.

HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE?

You can video yourself while you respond to the questions below or speak about any other matter concerning the future of education that you feel passionate about. A mobile phone (cellphone), an I-pad or a ”sreencast” on a computer will suffice to to the video as long as the sound is decent and there is not a lot of background noise. Carefully read my instruction manual below. Those of you wishing to remain anonymous can use masks, hand-puppets or find other creative ways to activate the screen while you are talking.

It is also possible to participate with a written submission, a drawing, a painting or a poem that can be sent by email to hello(at)evabakkeslett.com. Contributors may have their name, age and location included or choose to remain anonymous.

The video contributions should be sent to me to my email address hello(at)evabakkeslett.com on https://wetransfer.com. Make sure the attached video is not over 500MB. You can also use google drive. I will edit the videos and add them to this video blog. These will be available to the public on the web and also for my coming exhibitions in the touring show Child as a Teacher shown in Stavanger 26th January – 11th March and in Bellingham, WA, 29th September – 18th of December 2017. I will continue to gather these contributions as an ongoing project for this website and for future shows.

VIDEO MANUAL – How to make a screencast/webvideo.

  1. For a PC or Mac: Download the program Screencast to your PC or Mac: http://screencast-o-matic.com/home
  2. Register and log in. (for those under 12 this should be done with parents)
  3. For I-pad and smartphone: You can use the video on your smartphone or Ipad. Remember to record in landscape format!
  4. Remember to record in a quiet room. Turn off the TV, radio and put your phone on silent.
  5. Do not read notes but speak from your heart.  Speak clearly (no fast rambling) and for no more than 10 minutes. Give your video a name and make sure it is saved in the 16:9 format and that the video is no more than 500MB.
  6. Send me the video on https://wetransfer.com to my emailaddress: hello(at)evabakkeslett.com Wetransfer is free to use! You can also share your video on google drive.

QUESTIONS

You don’t need to answer ALL the questions. Only the ones that STICK OUT that are most important to you. If you have other thoughts and ideas please include them. You might for instance have experience from a different school system and can compare what works and what does not.

  • Do you (or did you) enjoy school? If not, why?
  • Are you (or were you) learning stuff you are interested in at school? If not, what would you change?
  •  Describe your dream school.
  • What subjects are (or were) important to you and why?
  • What are the best conditions for learning – where and when do you thrive and learn the most?
  • What do you imagine a good classroom to look like?
  • Describe the qualities of a good teacher?
  • Can you learn from people who aren’t teachers?
  • Do we need to go to school or can we learn better in other ways?
  • How would you like to change school and our education?
  • Have you got an experience from school, good or bad, that you’d like to share?
  • What would you do if you didn’t have to go to school?

HVEM KAN BIDRA?

Alle som er engasjerte i spørsmål om utdanning, skole eller kreativitet er velkommen til å bidra i dette prosjektet.  Du må ha vilje og mot til å fortelle din historie og dele dine ideer om hvordan fremtidens skole og utdanning bør de ut. De under 12 må sikkert få hjelp av foreldre eller lærere til å lage filmen.

HVORDAN KAN JEG BIDRA?

Lag en kort video av deg seg mens du svarer på et eller flere av spørsmålene under eller reflekterer over det du synes er viktig å endre med vårt utdanningssystem. En mobiltelefon, I-pad eller  PC går bra så lenge lyden er god og det ikke er masse bakgrunnsstøy. Se manual og informasjon under her. Det er også mulig å bidra med tekst, en tegning og maleri eller et dikt som kan sendes på epost til: hello(at)evabakkeslett.com. Hvis du vil kan du ha med navn, alder og hvor du kommer fra men det er sjølsagt også mulig å være anonym. De som ønsker å være anonyme kan bruke maske, hand-dukker eller finne andre og kreative måter å aktivere skjermen på mens de snakker. De under 12 bør få hjelp av en voksen. 

Bidragene sendes til meg på wetransfer til epost adresse hello(at)evabakkeslett.com. Jeg redigerer videoene  som lastes opp på denne websiden som så vil være tilgjengelig under utstillingen Child as a Teacher på Kunsthallen i Stavanger. Jeg vil fortsette å samle stemmer også etter utstillingen som vil være tilgjengelig på internett og for framtidige utstillinger.

MANUAL: Hvordan lager du en screencast/webvideo?

  1. For PC/MAC: Last ned programmet Screencast: http://screencast-o-matic.com/home
  2. Registrer deg og log in.
  3. For telefon eller I-pad. Du kan bruke videofunksjonen til smarttelefon eller nettbrett. Husk å ha telefonen eller nettbrettet i liggende format.
  4. Husk at det må være stille i rommet. Skru av TV, radio og telefoner i nærheten.
  5. Ikke les opp notater men snakk fra hjertet. Snakk klart og tydelig og ikke mer enn 10 minutter.
  6. Gi videoen et navn og pass på at filen ikke er for stor til å sendes.
  7. Send videoen til meg med https://wetransfer.com til epostadresse: hello@evabakkeslett.com.

VIKTIG: Du trenger ikke å svare på alle spørsmålene men bare de som er interessante for deg. Du kan også snakke om andre ting som er viktig for deg i forhold til skole og utdanning. 

  • Trives/trivdes du på skolen? Hvorfor trives/trivdes du eller hvorfor trives/trivdes du ikke? Hvis ikke, hva vil du forandre?
  • Lærer/lærte du ting på skolen som du er interessert i?
  • Hva er viktig for deg å lære og hvorfor?
  • Hvis du kunne fortelle statsministeren hvordan skolen burde se ut, hva ville du si?
  • Beskriv din drømmeskole.

  • Hvordan ser et godt klasserom ut?
  • Beskriv en god lærer?
  • Kan man lære noe fra andre som ikke er lærere? Hvordan?
